BIOL Prize, the event/award that see the competition in Apulia of the best extra-virgin organic olive oils from all over the world is back, uniting the world of organic olive oil producers. Also this year Cibi designed a program rich in events, technical and cultural, that will join the international award. All will be done with the objective of focusing on differences – and to different heritages connected to them – that characterize the vast panorama of organic extra-virgin olive oil.
This year edition, the sixteenth, will be held from 26 to 28 of April in Andria (Apulia), after the pre-selections that took place in the different Italian and foreign olive oil producing regions. In particular, the program will include B to B meetings among international buyers, olive oil and olives producers, training for panel test experts, the annual exhibition of participating olive oils, a forum that will consider both technical aspects of the production chain and those related to health benefits. A dedicated space will have also children, with BIOLKIDS; this initiative is implemented since some years by ACU Apulia together with Apulia Region, Consorzio Puglia Natura and different local primary schools: it’s a children jury that, after some training on the subject of olive oil, olive growing, on the historical heritage behind them, and tasting session to recognize and assess organoleptic characteristics – will form a “small panel” that will join the international jury to decide on the oil preferred by youngest consumers. All of this will happened together with an itinerary for a responsible choice  of such an essential part of everyday diet.
Also this year participating oils will be more than 300, coming from all over the world. The jury, made up by experts coming from major oil producing regions of the world, will award different prizes: BIOL Prize, given to the best bottled organic extra-virgin olive oil ready for the sale; BIOLPACK, for the best packaging; and BIOLBLENDED, for the best olive oil blend. Then will also be awarded different prizes related to territories or special topic, such as BIOLETHIC.
At the beginning of June, morover, olive oil will meet the organic fish during the third edition of BIOLFISH, always in Apulia, but this time in Monopoli: an international event on organic fish, sustainable fishing and aquaculture, with meetings that will involve gastronomy, culture, seminars and awards, always in connection with BIOL Prize.
