I choose ICEA for Sustainable and Responsible Tourism because:
ICEA is an integrating part of AITR (Italian Association for Responsible Tourism), participates in EARTH (European Net of Responsible Tourism), and works at the European Chart of Sustainable and Responsible Tourism.
UNWTO (World Tourism Organization) in one of its most well-known declarations, stated that “the development of sustainable tourism satisfy the need of tourists and hosting regions and at the same time preserves and improves future opportunities”.
The Lanzarote Chart of 1995 states clearly the three golden rules that must be the base of the development of sustainable tourism:
The UNWTO, the Lanzarote Chart and Agenda 21, contributed to formalize the paradigm of sustainable and responsible tourism, based on social accountability, and economic and environmental fairness. The World Code of Tourism Ethic, promoted by UNWTO in 1999 calls also for a non indiscriminate use of the non renewable resources of our planet. AITR (Italian Association for Responsible Tourism) Assembly of 9 October 2005 adopted the first Italian definition of responsible tourism and declares that is tourism made according to social accountability and economic fairness, in full respect of environment and cultures.
ICEA started from those inspirational steps and associated them, in the development of tourism certification, with a high specialization in organic, in both food and non food areas.
ICEA, in tourism, promotes the application of the following standards:
