Certification of ecological furniture and furnishings is issued in accordance with the criteria laid out by the ANAB-ICEA standard: the certification states that the furniture and furnishings:
shall have a reduced environmental impact:
shall be made of wood and wood-based materials coming from forests or plantations managed in accordance with the criteria of responsible management;
shall be obtained through production processes with reduced emissions to air and water and reduced energy consumption;
are designed with the gaol of reducing the use of substances hazardous to health and the environment and the amount of used material;
shall improve its duration, the easy disassembly, the recyclability of components and the reduction of the overall dimensions during transport;
reduce the risk of pollutant emissions in the built environment.
The certification scheme includes the following steps:
Preliminary assessment of products and carrying out of tests
At this stage, for each product to be certified, it will be verified that the product:
is fit for its declared fitness for use
does not contain substances harmful to humans and the environment
is obtained mainly from wood from forests and plantations certified FSC® or PEFC®
is environmentally optimized along its whole life cycle
For carrying out the tests ICEA uses qualified laboratories and selected upon their expertise and competence.
In situ audit
The audit is intended to verify the proper organization and management of manufacturing processes and internal procedures that are likely to compromise the conformity of the product to the requirements specified in the standards.
