Biol Prize, the international award and event that since fourteen years see a competition between the best extra-virgin olive oil from the world in Puglia, is back. Also this year the technical organization of CiBi (Bari, Italy) is working on a rich program with cultural, gastronomic, and technical events that will go together with the international competition. All of this on the aim of promoting and highlighting differences - and related cultural heritages that characterize the multifaceted world of organic extra-virgin olive oil.

The edition 2009 will be in the usual period, from 20 to 25 of April, with appointments in different olive producing Italian region and foreign countries, ending in Monopoli, on the Southern coastal province of Bari, chosen also for the double event that for the second year will characterize Biol, organized together with BiolFish, an international project that couple organic olive oil and fish to unite production, market, and consumers of the Adriatic Sea.

Also this year, after the territorial pre-selections in Italy and abroad, the jury, made up of experts coming from different olive producing regions of the world, will award different prizes: “Biol Prize”, awarded to the best extra-virgin olive oil bottled by the producer as ready for the market;  “Biolpack”, for the best packaging, meaning the best design and the best and most clear label; “Biolblended”, prize for the best blended, meaning the finished product bottled and market under a logo that is not the one of the producer, but that anyway must be of known origin. To these must be added different territorial prized related to BiolFish.
Biol Prize has the patronage of IFOAM and of the Italian Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies, and its carried out thank to the cooperation with different local agencies and bodies, among which Puglia Region, Bari Chamber of Commerce, Township of Monopoli, Aiab Puglia, ICEA – Ethical and Environmental Certification Institute, Consorzio Puglia Natura.
