Landemed is an Associative, not-for-profit Environmental Organisation that has established new guide-lines for planning, managing and certifying green spaces with a social interest, referred to (a) urban eco-systems (public gardens and parks) and to (b) semi-natural ecosystems (rural parks, historical gardens, botanical gardens, thematic gardens and garden centres) with a typical botanic, naturalistic and landscaping profiles from the Mediterranean Basin.

Giude-lines are established according to European and international standards, and are oriented to Public Administrations, Landscape Professionals and other Organisations involved in the management of private or public parks and gardens. Certification will be relevant for landscape designers, landscapers and garden maintenance operators, and rely on an international audit scheme.

As the most emphasis is put on the nativeness of species to be selected when designing a future or maintaining a current anthropogenic landscape, the integrated approach ruled by LANDEMED consider to:
1. Apply best management practices in order to a) minimize water use, b) minimize chemicals use, c) minimize energy consumption
2. Apply best designing criteria in order to a) providing biodiversity with the set-up of core areas and buffer zones, b) preserving and enhancing the landscape, with the set-up of conneting green corridors, c) 
preserving the countryside’s cultural heritage.
