ICEA - Bio Edilizia

Certification of materials for Bioarchitecture promotes the quality of building materials, reduces noxious emissions, and uses renewable resources and energy, thus respecting the environment and the health and safety of workers and end-users.

IN RESPECT OF PEOPLE AND NATURE

Housing is a basic human need, but building houses, paradoxically, is nowadays one of the activities with the highest environmental impact due to the progressive and uncontrolled devastation of the territory and the use of unsafe materials and building techniques.

ICEA and ANAB (Italian Association for Bio-ecological Architecture) develop methods and processes for the production of construction materials, and more broadly of housing conditions that are compatible with the environment, human health and the socio-cultural context in which they are used.

The Italian System for the Certification of Ecological Building Materials

The Italian System for certification of Ecological Building Materials, was created in 2004, subsequent to the agreement between ICEA and ANAB.
The System was founded on the principle of independence and separation of roles, according to which ANAB is charged with the task of drawing up, updating and publishing standards for ecological building materials, and ICEA with that of certifying each component.

Goal of the certification of the Ecological Building Materials

The goal of the certification is to improve the quality of building materials and in so doing reduce toxic emissions and the use of energy, promote the use of renewable resources by production units during the pre-production, production and post-production phases, in the respect of  the environment, the health and safety of workers and users.
