The house is a primary needs for mankind, but building, paradoxically, is nowadays one of the activities with highest environmental impact due to the progressive and uncontrolled devastation of the territory and for the unsafe materials and building techniques used.
ICEA and ANAB (Italian Association for Bio-ecological Architecture) develop methods and production processes of the
construction materials, and more broadly of house-living, compatible with the environment, the human health and with the social-cultural context in which they are used.
The Italian System of ecological Building materials Certification
The Italian System for certifying Ecological Building Materials, that follows the agreement between ICEA and ANAB, was born in 2004.
The System is founded on the principle of independence and roles separation, in which ANAB is responsible for drawing up, updating and publishing standards for ecological building materials, and ICEA has the task of certifying each component.
The goal of the certification of the Ecological Building Materials

The goal of the certification is to improve the quality of the building materials reducing the toxic emissions and the use of energy, and to use renewable resources by unit of product during the pre-production, production and post-production phases, in the respect of the environment, the health and the safety of workers and users.
