The logo BIOLOGICO DI FATTORIA (FARM ORGANIC) is a certification logo for food products (packaged) “from organic farming” that have a production cycle completed within a single farm.
The absence of intermediate passages through different subjects involved in obtaining the product allows a lesser handling of the product itself, lower time of processing and packaging related to lower transportation and a consequent higher freshness and nutritional quality of the processed raw materials.
Among ICEA’s certifications is the one more oriented toward consumers and a short production chain.
During the first launch and promotion phase (minimum 1 year) ICEA offers this certification for free to all companies already controlled under EC Reg. 2092/91.
The logo and the certified companies will be the subject of communication campaign on the occasion of exhibitions and other events organized by ICEA.
Basic requirements:
Production and processing of the product must necessarily take place within the same farm. It is allowed only the purchasing of secondary ingredients that are not available on the region territory (for example sugarcane, cocoa, etc.) and only strictly needed allowed additives.
Livestock farms must guarantee a very high level of feeding self-sufficiency (70% of the dry matter for polygastric and 50% for monogastric), higher than the legal minimum (30%). Only slaughtering can take place in external structures if the farm controls the slaughtering phase and on condition that the slaughter house is located in the same Province of the farm or in a neighbouring ones.
